Flood On the Mississippi River

So yesterday I took my family down to the Flooding Mississippi River in downtown Memphis. I wanted them to actually see histroy, as this is the river's highest level since 1937. We drove over the Hernado-Desoto Bridge to Arkansas, and what a sight to see which was normally land, now looks like a lake.

A crest of 48 feet is expected to happen on Monday or Tuesday.

And last week, the Army Corps of Engineers pulled a trick it had not been forced to use in nearly 75 years: It blew open a two-mile run of a Missouri levee, sacrificing about 130,000 acres of farmland and 100 homes to save the town of Cairo, Ill.
